In Finland around 2 % of the population (100 000 people) suffer from psoriasis. About 3-5% of psoriasis cases are severe. Psoriasis is not contagious.  The World Health Organizations (WHO) passed a resolution on psoriasis in May 2014 which recognized psoriasis alongside other serious incurable chronic diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease. According to the resolution, psoriasis is a chronic, noncommunicable, painful, disfiguring, and disabling disease for which there is no cure.
